My house 25 minutes north of Chiang Mai, Thailand. I built this 12 years ago. Living here 20+ years. My thai wife was a cop. Our son graduates in December at Melbourne Uni. I’m 71, will just stay here forever. Living costs are 1/4 of Melbourne.

People always talk about how affordable it is to move to Thailand but they never bring up the fact that you have to put about 20,000 American dollars into their bank account to get a retirement visa or you have to show proof of income of a ridiculous amount of money so if you don't have $20,000 just laying around and you don't need that to live off of then Thailand would be a good place

It’s so beautiful, but I can’t handle heat and humidity. Thankfully Korea has 4 seasons, not quite as cheap as Thailand, but still much more affordable than the US imo.
