My favorite scene was when the fisherwoman says to her wicker husband “My life used to be so simple, now you have my heart and it’s extremely flammable” as a fellow ugly girl with a loving gentle husband I FELT that I started crying in the theater

This wedding dance scene was my favorite too. Then when that lady was going to ask Wicker Man to dance, but overheard his declaration of love instead. Suddenly nothing is funny anymore cause she realized they are in love. Something she doesn’t have.

Yes I loved this scene!! The part in the dance where the husbands put their wives in a headlock, while the wicker man gently puts his arms around the fisher woman in a gentle embrace instead and she happily accepts.

I love the world building too. Like the way they ward off curses with certain motions, and the fertility rituals like the goat and the carrot scene and the eggs.

I think that the Bakers have a happy marriage. Especially in comparison to the rest of the village (excluding Fisherwoman and Wickerhusband). They were also the most open about their relationship issues with each other.

I also thought it was interesting that during the weddings the men don’t think to maybe lift or move the veil before putting the collar on so their wife isn’t struggling to breathe or uncomfortable. It’s almost symbolic of how strangling their marriages are 🤔

The Taylor’s wife was so smart and had so much potential but her husband and father just wouldn’t let her thrive. Her ambition turned sadly to hate.
