It’s not just the foster parents, biological parents will kick you out quickest, especially because they ain’t getting a check for you.. sometimes people have kids but don’t actually want to be parents

My neighbor did this. The day after the 18th, their bags were on the curb. They would use the money to go on vacation WITHOUT the foster kid. Used older foster kids to watch younger foster kids for free. They won Model Foster Family of the Year in my state. Their social worker was married to one of their sons. She would look past the fact that the parents' other son was a registered chomo. I didn’t find out until my dad realized he was grooming me (and another girl). He didn’t technically live there so his address never showed. The same sketchy family would say “I love you” the day of your birthday, and kick you to the curb the next day. Time and time again we saw these kids leave crying with bags and nowhere to go. It’s disgusting. Be a parent and love them or don’t foster. They are children not checks

Idkk tbh, but ermmm in my state, my grandparents have won awards for for many foster kids they raised (1,000) and I’m not saying they raised them perfectly but my cousin ,stayed in the system til 18 and everyone in my family treats her like she’s family becz she is and my family all helps her and talks to her so not all but a lot do tbh, and my dads a foster parents as well he’s older now but he did it since he was in his 20s and anyways I’m like there sibling and we’ve never had one that’s like turned 18 but my dad kicked a foster kid out becz she had problems but idc if she does or not I’m still gonna support her and I do support her becz maybe in a lot of peoples stories she’s a bad person but to me she supported me and won’t let ppl talk bad about me so ye. Also tbh I plan on doing foster care and I wouldn’t abandon my kids at 18 either, I’m younger but I’m saying when I’m older I want to do foster care

I never understood this either. it happened to me. The check stopped and I had to go. I was 19 and homeless. Basically there was never any real love there. I was just a check. I see so many others going through this. it's so sad

That’s why I decided to stop fostering. Cuz my ex-wife had the mentality that that was her money and not the kids. When I asked her to sign the letter to close the house, she got very upset and decided to move out. And guess what, now she’s fostering babies, cuz social services send more money for the babies.

Greedy just in it for the money but if they 18 hopefully they go to college take a trade plan their future by then hopefully being a good foster parent or parent you help them build a savings account

People think it’s money but they can stay in care beyond age 18. Many of mine have moved back in to get back on their feet more than a few times. It was never about money. I’d of been much better off working outside my home.

Also sometimes adoptees who are former foster youth get kicked out at 18 because the monthly adoption subsidies stop coming. Few people know that people who adopt from foster care receive a monthly adoption-from-foster-care subsidy ranging from $300-2,000 PER CHILD.

Sad since they should have loved them enough to continue to care for them. I would have cut back on unnecessary items and helped child get a job.

Just my opinion. Not in all homes that are true to the system in using the money for the kids needs. On the other hand there are families out there just for the money. Several kids in the home the more money the foster parent gets. if the child has a disability it's a bigger check. Some homes you see where the money is spent, pools, campers, nice vehicles, parents with new clothes, but not the kids. Sad situations. Foster care needs better screening processes & more surprise home checks, not scheduled checked.
