This is beautiful and heartbreaking, but life doesn’t always unfold this way. Not everyone gets to grow old with their parents, and not every child gets to outlive them. In my family, so many of these lines ended far too early, and in a completely different order. Some were gone decades before the ages shown here, and some lives ended before they had even truly begun. If only life followed such a gentle order.
