@mortgagefreeleigh: 👎 Subscription Model 👎 I honestly think one of the worst things to happen to our finances in the last decade is the rise of the subscription model. EVERYTHING is a subscription now and we somehow sleepwalked into paying for things but never actually owning them. I actually can’t believe how bad it’s gotten because one of our TV subscriptions just went up by £2 for the ad supported version, we couldn’t get a major kids film on any of the 5 subscriptions we do have and half of the content is locked on one of the platforms because we need an ‘add on’. The thought of subscribing to one more email list to be able to access the best prices is honestly enough to make my head explode because I would not like to see how much of my life has been spent deleting incessant emails. The cost of living and the subscription model are absolutely out of control and at this point, I’m seriously considering opting out of it all and going back to the 90s analog life with our DVD collection that we thankfully didn’t fully declutter! 🧐 Am I the only one who is fed up of subscribing to life?! I’ve cancelled all my streaming services for a while and got my CDs down from the loft - had enough!!!!

The "sleepwalked into it" part is so true. Each one feels small on its own, and it's only when you add them all up as a yearly number that it hits. Curious which subscription you'd cut first?

Goodness me, yes. Apparently now you can also subscribe to some features in new cars?😂 Sorry but no.

oh absolutely, I tried to get us back on physical media (cds and dvds) at the beginning of this year but had such pushback from the kids I just didnt have the energy. Think we worked out we do 70-80 a month just in subscription services.
