Rare aesthetics to explain why I’ve been so demotivated lately. The love for makeup, acting and the community I’m blessed to have built keeps me going but on a larger scale I’ve felt myself questioning why. @/legally.a.marshmallow said it best - in 2019 you could make friends in a con line and now I fear judgement for complimenting others. Now people don’t always choose their cosplays for love and instead have to consider views, heck even I don’t wear some of my favourites for content because they just flop/aren’t suited to silly short form videos! I see so many people complain the “influencers ruined the convention scene” - I don’t believe this is entirely true as many factors contributed to this (primarily the popularisation of previously niche hobbies meaning it’s not just the former weird kids here any more) but as a creator myself I never want to be part of the problem. I feel isolated, but I isolated myself. I discuss the problem yet find no solution when I have no desire to keep putting myself in situations that hurt and I now go to a very limited number of events that keep that old school free spirit alive. Soft launching that I’ll be moving to streaming as my primary method of content creation before the year it out. It’s authentic, it’s silly, it’s connection and it’s just purely sharing love for my favourite medium (video games) 🔑 Cosplay community convention culture discussion cringe Venti Tamaki Suoh Genshin OHSHC Ouran ZZZ Vil Schoenheit
