@timtalksmoneysg: If you’ve got $10k sitting in cash in Singapore, here’s the 3-ETF portfolio I’d build with it 👇 Quick reminder first: some of these are UCITS ETFs, which are domiciled in Ireland and tax-efficient for those of us who aren’t US citizens. 1️⃣ 70% ($7,000) into one global ETF This is your core holding. Option one is VWRA, or its cheaper sibling VALU, which also adds smaller companies. Both cover developed and emerging markets. Option two is XWR, the Xtrackers MSCI World ETF that just listed on SGX. It’s developed markets only, so no exposure to countries like China or India, but you can buy it in Singapore dollars on SGX, which keeps things a lot simpler. 2️⃣ 20% ($2,000) into a Straits Times ETF Something like the Amova Singapore STI ETF. Singapore makes up less than 1% of global market cap, so yes, this is a home bias. But Singapore has a strong currency, mature companies, and it’s your home market. G3B pays out dividends while GAB reinvests them. I prefer GAB because, unless you rely on the income, every dividend goes straight back to work without you lifting a finger. 3️⃣ 10% ($1,000) into the ABF Singapore Bond Index Fund (A35) A lot of people treat CPF as their bond allocation. But this gives you a real feel for how bonds behave, and it’s your stepping stone into global bond ETFs as your portfolio grows and as you get older. Where to buy them? For the SGX ones, any low-cost broker in Singapore works. For the UCITS ones outside SG, Interactive Brokers and FSMOne both give you access. If you want to automate monthly investing into VALU, right now only IBKR offers it. Remember, just starting is half the battle. It doesn’t need to be perfect from day one. If you want to build this out properly with the right habits, and understand how stock markets and low-cost products really work, I’m hosting my next live Investing Made Simple workshop from 4 November. Just DM me the word INVEST and I’ll send you the details. #singapore #fypsg #sgfinance #investing101 #investing
