@classics.journey: Melania Trump is facing questions over who deserves credit for a localized ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, after both her team and Vatican officials offered conflicting accounts of how the agreement came about. On Friday, the first lady announced that she had personally helped broker a ceasefire in Oleshky, a city where residents have faced food shortages and disease during the war. But the announcement quickly sparked criticism because Pope Leo had reportedly contacted Russian President P\*tin a week earlier to request a ceasefire in the same area. Melania’s adviser, Marc Beckman, insisted that she had secured the agreement on her own. He even argued that her efforts had inspired the pope to get involved. D. Trump also defended his wife, telling reporters she was “doing better than the professionals right now.” However, Vatican officials, including Cardinal Pietro Parolin, maintained that the ceasefire was the pope’s initiative. Ukrainian official Davyd Arakhamia thanked both Melania and Pope Leo, describing the agreement as the result of a long process involving multiple sides. On Saturday, Melania was also asked whether she planned to visit Ukraine. She replied, “We will see,” while D. Trump added that a visit “could happen.” For now, the competing accounts have left questions about who initiated the ceasefire, even as both sides receive recognition for their reported efforts. Who do you think deserves credit when a ceasefire comes after efforts from multiple people? \#MelaniaTrump #PopeLeo #Ukraine #WorldNews #breakingnews
