we had super small.wedding, maybe 40 people? we took a limo after, went to the bar! partied in hotel, there's nothing wrong with that. we didn't have open bar either, too spendy.

Weddings without alcohol are boring and awkward… a lot of people don’t have the confidence to hang out with a bunch of strangers for hours and hours without at least a couple of drinks in them. When I had a Wedding Planner, I asked about weddings with no alcohol just for the hell of it and she said you can expect those to be done right after the first day everybody leaves…

That’s very sad, but since you mentioned you’re sober, I’m assuming it was a dry wedding. Most regular people aren’t going to want to party or dance and stay late anywhere where they can’t have a couple drinks

The sober part is where I knew it went wrong lol. I also don't drink but we had alcohol at our wedding because my family and my husband’s friends do drink. A wedding without alcohol is always going to end early and if they know it's alcohol-free, people won't show up. We, too, had a bunch of people rsvp yes and then not show for whatever reason. All the food was gone though because everyone was drinking and wanting to snack lol. My mom tried to leave before our first dance because her husbands brothers cousins friends moms dog died or something (it's always something with his family especially if there's something going on with her family), my brother had to stop her in the parking lot. I don't think it has anything to do with being a new Christ follower, some people are just shitty.

As a wedding photographer of 5 years - the leaving right after the ceremony, dinner, and then dances has become the norm. I always know it’s coming and the brides never do! 🥺 Especially cold weather weddings, Sunday weddings, and weddings after daylight savings time goes back!

I bartended a wedding where plenty of people showed up but almost everyone left before the reception. The bride told me I could leave and I saw her tearing up so me, her, the groom, the Dj, and their best friends had a bonfire and hung out all night. It was so fun. I only wish the photographer stayed lol
