That little heritage building isn't holding up the tower above it. Jameson House reaches over the restored Ceperley Rounsfell Building on West Hastings, using a cantilever rather than relying on the old building to carry the new floors. The engineering gets even more interesting when you look at those curved bays. About a third of each curve is actually a concrete support wall, helping support the projecting floors without simply making the slabs thicker. Designed by Foster + Partners with Francl Architecture and completed in 2011, the project brought homes, offices and shops together while preserving part of Vancouver's historic streetscape. It's one of those buildings thousands of people walk past without realizing how much engineering is hiding in plain sight. Had you ever noticed what was happening above that little brick building? DM me if you're curious how this could affect your next move in Greater Vancouver real estate. You can also call or text me at 604-728-2220. I'm Payam with Payam Ali Real Estate Group, helping locals buy, sell, invest, and stay ahead of what's changing in Greater Vancouver real estate.
