What does a lithium atom have in common with your brain, a Hindu temple, and Saturn’s north pole? Apparently, geometry has been working overtime. Some fascinating research into the organization of our visual cortex suggests that the brain organizes information through geometric relationships remarkably similar to those found in crystalline structures. Which raises a much bigger question: Is geometry just the shape things take, or is it part of how reality organizes information in the first place? The ancient Hindus had some interesting ideas about this. Their temples weren’t simply buildings dedicated to deities. They were physical representations of a layered cosmos, using geometry to connect abstract principles with the material world. From the pinwheels in your visual cortex to the atomic structure of gold, the hexagons of a beehive, and the storms on Saturn, nature keeps finding new ways to use the same mathematical relationships. That doesn’t mean ancient temples were quantum computers. But it does make you wonder whether we’ve been looking at their architecture from entirely the wrong perspective. We spend so much time arguing about how the ancient world moved giant rocks that we rarely stop to ask where the ideas behind their designs came from. And that rabbit hole might be considerably stranger. #Consciousness #SacredGeometry #Neuroscience #AncientCivilizations #QuantumPhysics
