My lights go out at 8/8.30pm on Halloween even if I still have sweets/chocolate left because that’s when I put my kiddo to bed. Anyone with small kids will come prior to that time anyway!

Who the heck is trick or treating until 10😂 We are done by 8. We normally leave candy out till get back. My light goes off at 9pm though.

I grew up in the 70’s and the rule was (and should still be) if the porch light is off, they aren’t doing it. Full stop. We never gave it a second thought. Disappointed? We just moved on to the next one! Sheesh!🙄

I was always told as a kid that lights off meant they ran out of candy. They get plenty, one house isn’t gonna break them. One of my favorite Halloween memory as a kid though was when someone forgot to turn their porch light off when they ran out of candy. He gave me and my cousins all a pack of ramen noodles. Better and more memorable than any candy lol

Yes it’s extremely weird for anyone to text this to you! If the light is off, you skip the house. Doesn’t matter what they used to do, if it was on earlier, etc. They turned it off, they’re done.
