when I left my abuser I had to leave all my pets behind. 2 cats, a dog, and 6 chickens. my ex sent me picture of chicken he cooked and said "insert name here was delicious". he was lying, of course. my hens were not a meat breed and the chicken he cooked clearly came from broilers but it had the intended effect in the moment. I tried to submit the texts as evidence in our divorce but my ex said "it was a joke and if I was capable of rational thought I would have known it"

you did the right thing, as painful as it was. a dog deserves love and care; he wouldn't have gotten it with quinoa and you were incredibly responsible to realise that he wouldn't have gotten the life he deserved with you. do you ever get updates about him?

My biggest concern now is that since quinoa’s mom sounds like an enabler, he somewhere along the line manipulated her into giving Levi to him, and you’d be none the wiser because she leaves you on read.

I let both my cats go with my ex when I broke up with him because he takes amazing care of them and I didn't want to split them up. I miss them every day, here's two paintings my sister did of my babies so I can look at them every day

Rehoming done correctly is the greatest love you can show a pet. It’s so hard to be able to admit you can’t make time or take care of a pet correctly, and so many people let the pet suffer instead of admitting they can’t do it. It takes a lot of love to be able to give up a pet in hopes they have a better life with someone else. Thank you for taking the best steps for that pup, even at the cost of it hurting you.
