@invinciblevenus_: Antwort auf @megan one of the most dangerous men you will ever encounter in your dating life (and you will, there are too many of them out there) is the man who just cannot stand when you are more successful than he is. This is not repairable, you need to leave. #relationshipadvice
My ex was exactly like this. He had a Bachelor’s degree, and when I got my Master’s, he constantly tried to belittle it by saying it was “just” a teaching degree. Every achievement, every hobby, every little thing I was proud of he always found a way to make it seem insignificant. It was like he couldn’t stand the thought of me achieving something he hadn’t.

yes my ex had the pattern to entangle with very intelligent women with him being just average or I would say less than average so he could humiliate you in many different things. Especially in front of others.

Just after I started my PhD my boyfriend at the time would start arguments with me every time I tried to talk about my research, what I was working on. He would tell me that I would never achieve anything that I was hoping to achieve and that I was a fundamentally unserious person who didn’t know anything about the real world / lived in a fantasy land because, I, decided to undertake a PhD in the humanities. At the time this was ruining my entire experience of the PhD, and I was seriously considering quitting in fear of his predictions of my eventual failure were going to be true. I didn’t quit but I did quit that relationship, nothing he had predicted for me has turned out to be true, and instead my life has never been as rich and expansive in experience, joy and relationships/connections with wonderful humans. This video is so important - thank you.

Many of us don't just stay, because we are "too nice", but because we are raised, to give men the benefit of a doubt. Because if we don't, we are demonized for having standards and boundaries.

Yes, 100%.. I’m 33 years old. I was in a relationship with a very insecure man. Even though he owned his own company and I had a great job, I’m Latina and he’s European— I was never dependent on him for anything.
Still, he would try to put me down, claiming that because I was much more intelligent than him, I lacked humility and was just showing off. He also accused me of not helping out around his place whenever I visited. He was extremely jealous; once, I suggested that he should address his insecurities in therapy, but he replied that he “wasn’t crazy, so he didn’t need therapy”, so I broke up with him 🤷🏻♀️

Absolutely. I did the IELTS at the same time as my ex and achieved 7.0 and he only got 6.0 even though he went to an international school and did his IB. I was not allowed to talk about this to ANYONE nor did he celebrate my success. Instead he made me feel guilty. One of many instances unfortunately. Over 6 years he took apart my confidence. Slowly building it back now (2 years since break up).

In my case .. It took him 2 years to show his true colors . I thought he was “different” … but at the end it came to the problem that I had too many degrees and he had none … he felt small he said .
