@ptorres.realtor7: 🏡 New executive order on mortgage costs: who could benefit? On October 22, 2026, President Trump signed an executive order aimed at reducing certain mortgage and homeownership expenses. Here are some of its main provisions: ✅ Mortgage insurance: calls for a pilot program to help eligible homeowners cancel mortgage insurance once they meet equity requirements based on their home’s current value. It would apply only to mortgages originated after the pilot is established and backed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. ✅ Refinancing: seeks to lower certain closing costs through alternatives to lender’s title insurance on eligible refinance transactions. ✅ USDA and VA direct loans: directs these departments to reduce interest rates on loans they make directly, subject to applicable law and available funding. This does not automatically include all loans guaranteed by these agencies. ✅ Manufactured homes: establishes a task force to encourage construction innovation and streamline processes that could reduce costs. 📌 These changes do not automatically lower everyone’s interest rate or monthly payment. Benefits will depend on implementation and each program’s eligibility requirements. Thinking about buying? Let’s discuss your goals and the questions to review with your lender.
