I have nothing to hide, and I am fully prepared to address it through the proper legal process. I have NOT accused the family of involvement in the murders, child trafficking, or drug trafficking. I do not support those accusations. Do not attach someone else’s words to my name. If you want to challenge my coverage, use my actual words and the full context. In my opinion, the broad announcement about unnamed creators was reckless. It has fueled the same behavior being criticized: people spreading accusations and attacking others without checking the facts. To me, it feels like intimidation. Last night, I had more than 1,300 people in my live while comments poured in saying, “You’re being sued,” “I hope they take everything,” and “They finally shut you up.” There was even a bingo card for guessing which creators would be served. New viewers were confused. My work was disrupted. Some may never return. This affects my reputation and income, and other creators can face the same harm. Our livelihoods are not a game. LEGAL CLAIMS ABOUT STATEMENTS CONCERNING THE FAMILY ARE NOT A BLANKET BAN ON DISCUSSING THE IDAHO FOUR CASE. An announcement does not automatically require creators to stop discussing the investigation or public records. A cease-and-desist letter is a demand, not a court ruling. Being sued does not prove wrongdoing. Legal deadlines and court orders still must be taken seriously. Reading records, asking questions, and discussing theories are not automatically defamation. False factual accusations can be, even when called an “opinion.” People should understand that difference before announcing that someone has been “shut down.” That includes anyone presenting themselves as a legal professional. I have covered true crime for almost nine years and have kept my records. If I am served with a lawsuit, I will make it public, and I will file a countersuit. I am also seriously considering lawsuits over other statements about me that I believe are defamatory. IF PEOPLE DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY FOR WHAT IS SAID ABOUT THEM, THEY SHOULD EXPECT THE SAME SCRUTINY OF WHAT THEY HAVE SAID ABOUT ME.
