I was talking to my parents on the phone about tomatoes. (Gardening is my special interest, so you can imagine how animated I was). A few hours later, my husband came in and said, “I noticed how happy you were when you were talking to your parents. Why don’t you ever talk to me like that?” I was immediately filled with rage because I didn’t know he was listening to my conversation and judging that something was wrong with our relationship. I told him, “Why don’t you ever talk to me about tomatoes?!” I now call my parents when he is not home. 😩
