@where.is.lexy: If you’re heading to Kamikochi for the fall, please I beg you, don’t go until you’ve done these 4 things: 1. Check the weather! Mountain weather changes so fast and I honestly think Kamikochi is worth it when the sun actually comes out and hits the trees. I was up at 4.30am and for a good 3 hours, I was second guessing if coming here was worth it and when the sun decided to say hi, I was like “HOT DANG, YES TOTALLY WORTH IT” 2. Layer layer layer The weather is unpredictable and even though it says it’s 6c, the real feel that morning was 1c. Being a dummy, we didn’t dress for the weather and got cold rashes. Bring gloves, a scarf etc to easily layer up or down 3. There’s no need to arrive at the crack of dawn unless you’re a hiker that wants to head out to another point of the Japanese alps. If you want to get there before the other busses from Matsumoto arrive, I’d recommend sleeping in a car like we did and take a non reserved bus and enter by 7-7.30 to hit the main spots before the crowds. 4. Bring your own food if you can! Think combini onigiri and water because there aren’t any shops that open before 10am and the lines are very long! ——— If you love beauty, food & travel, and tech, you’re in the right place!
