@marcusvibes614: Sammy Davis Jr. Asked Why Malcolm Was Safe for Years. Then Suddenly Wasn't. Most people remember Sammy Davis Jr. as a singer and dancer. But he was at the March on Washington in 1963. He raised money for Dr. King's movement. He knew these men. In a TV interview in the 1970s, he said something he had noticed. What He Noticed About Malcolm: He said that while Malcolm X preached that the races should stay apart, nobody touched him. Then Malcolm came back from Mecca saying people could live together. After that, his house was bombed. Months later, he was dead. What He Noticed About King: "Same thing with King," he said. When Dr. King marched, they put him in jail. When he started talking about Vietnam and workers, it got "too heavy." The Dates: · April 1964: Malcolm X goes to Mecca · February 14, 1965: His home is firebombed · February 21, 1965: He is shot and killed · April 4, 1967: Dr. King speaks against the Vietnam War · April 4, 1968: He is shot and killed in Memphis. He was there to support striking garbage workers. One year. To the day. What Sammy Believed: He believed powerful people were behind both killings. "That's my feeling," he said. "I will feel this as long as I live." What We Know: That has never been proven. But in 2021, a court cleared two of the three men convicted of killing Malcolm X. Prosecutors said the FBI and police held back evidence for 55 years. The Truth: Sammy did not have proof. He had a calendar. Both men were killed after their message got bigger.
