She called him “a #1 New York Times bestselling author” and said she was “so incredibly proud” of him. She also wrote that when he came into her life, he had “already been through more than any child should ever have to experience.” Conrad said she first listened to the audiobook. Then the hardcover arrived, and she found an acknowledgment to her inside. She shared part of it. Collin wrote that she “stepped into my life as the mother I needed most.” She said his words meant more to her than he would ever know. She also said Collin, now 22, was not the only one who needed someone. “What you may never fully realize is how much I needed you, too,” she wrote.
