💔 Someone agreed to watch Zeus for a little while. His owner never came back. Two years later, he’s on the euthanasia list. ⏰ DEADLINE: OCTOBER 18 Meet ZEUS A5172813, a handsome 4 year old, 54 pound pittie who has already been let down once. Two years ago, someone agreed to watch Zeus and his buddy, Xena, for a friend. But that friend never returned to pick them up. So Zeus stayed. For two whole years. He made himself at home, learned his commands, enjoyed car rides and walks, and spent his days playing with toys and soaking up attention. His caretaker described him as affectionate, playful, and house-trained. But there was a problem. Zeus didn’t get along with another dog in the home. While Zeus reportedly got along well with Xena, the dog he was surrendered with, he had conflicts with another large dog in the household. During one fight, they reported that Zeus bit their arm while they were physically separating the dogs, causing a single puncture. Interestingly, the shelter has not listed an official bite history for Zeus. Then, his caretaker decided they couldn’t keep him or Xena anymore. And just like that, he lost the only home he’d known for the past two years. Now he’s sitting in a noisy shelter, surrounded by dogs that make him uncomfortable. But a few days ago, staff got to see a little of the Zeus his caretaker knew. He walked nicely on leash, gently accepted treats, leaned into pets, and even showed off his sit while catching treats tossed his way. For a few minutes, he got to just be a dog again. Because of his history, Zeus has an ONLY DOG requirement and must go to a home with children ages 12+ or no children. Even though he lived peacefully with Xena, he’ll need an experienced foster who can provide safe management and a home without other dogs. Zeus spent two years waiting for someone who never came back. Now he has just days left for someone new to show up for him. ⚠️ ZEUS IS NEW HOPE ONLY (NHO) AND CANNOT BE ADOPTED DIRECTLY BY THE PUBLIC. He needs a committed foster AND an approved New Hope rescue willing to save him. ⏰ Deadline: 10/18 — at risk for euthanasia on 10/19 Apply to foster at AZFosters.com #CapCut #fyp #arizona #phoenix #az @Amber Johnson @FosterAZ @AZ Urgent & Adoptable @Rescue Street
