Real parenting. When I was 18 I ran up £3k worth of debt with nothing to show for it. I asked my mum to pay it for me which she did but I had to pay it back monthly. 2 years I didn’t see friends, didn’t go out, life was hell. After the 2 years I paid the final payment and my mum gave me the £3k back. (Back then £3k was a lot of money) I’m now 65 and haven’t had a debt since. It teaches you a lot about money and the pain involved in paying that money back. Forever indebted to her for that valuable lesson.
