@seekingyah: Day 297 Bible in a Year | John 9–10 — From Blindness to Sight and Hearing the Shepherd’s Voice 🐑✨ Today’s reading reminds us that physical sight is not the same as spiritual understanding. Through the healing of a man born blind and Jesus’ teaching about the good shepherd, we learn about faith, truth, courage, and recognizing the voice of the one sent by the Father. ✨ 1. Do Not Assume Suffering Is Punishment Jesus encounters a man who was blind from birth. His disciples ask who sinned, but Jesus redirects their attention from blame to the work of God. Jesus heals the man, who later boldly testifies about what happened—even when religious leaders challenge him. 📖 “One thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.” — John 9:25 (KJV) His story reminds us not to judge people by their circumstances or assume we know why they suffer. Instead, we can respond with compassion and remain open to what God may teach us. ✨ 2. Be Willing to Recognize the Truth The healed man grows in his understanding, while some of the religious leaders refuse to accept what has happened. Their certainty keeps them from honestly considering the evidence. 📖 “Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.” — John 9:38 (KJV) This chapter challenges us to remain humble. We should not become so attached to our assumptions that we reject truth when it is presented to us. Genuine understanding requires a willingness to learn and accept correction. ✨ 3. Learn to Recognize the Good Shepherd Jesus describes himself as the good shepherd who cares for the sheep. 📖 “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” — John 10:11 (KJV) Unlike someone who abandons the sheep when danger comes, the good shepherd protects and cares for them. Jesus demonstrates this through his willingness to give his life for others. His example teaches us that true leadership is shown through love, sacrifice, and responsibility—not control or self-interest. ✨ 4. Listen for the Shepherd’s Voice 📖 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” — John 10:27 (KJV) Jesus emphasizes the relationship between the shepherd and his sheep. They recognize his voice and follow him. We can apply this by becoming familiar with Jesus’ teachings and examining the voices that influence our lives. Not every popular opinion or confident speaker leads us toward truth. We must test what we hear against God’s Word. ✨ 5. Remember Where Jesus’ Authority Comes From Throughout John 10, Jesus speaks about his relationship with the Father and the work he was sent to do. 📖 “I and my Father are one.” — John 10:30 (KJV) Jesus’ words occur in a passage about the unity of purpose and protection he shares with the Father. He consistently points to the Father’s authority and his own mission. The religious leaders dispute his claims, but Jesus directs attention to his works as evidence of that mission. ❤️ Today’s Reflection John 9–10 challenges us to move beyond spiritual blindness, remain humble enough to recognize truth, and follow the good shepherd’s teachings. May we refuse to judge others unfairly, listen carefully to the words of Jesus, and remain close to the Father who sent him. Let our faith be demonstrated through what we learn, how we live, and the love we show others. 💭 What stood out to you most from John 9–10? #Day297BibleReading #BibleInAYear #John9 #John10 #DailyBibleReading
