Cuts a sheet to 18" with a saw, then nails it up, then gets a second saw to cut it to 12" in the air. If only there was a way to know how big to make it when cutting it the first time

Im not a carpenter, build my garage this year and tried that out with 5/8 osb. It didn’t cut shit, always stuck.I had a 3/8 flush cut bit on it and was cutting the right way
