Even Samsung has a warning saying, “take care of your phone” when setting up any foldable devices. I don’t think it’s that difficult to understand.

And I got the do over on Wednesday for what it’s worth, but I will say, depending on how widespread this issue turns out to be, I don’t think you can blame the user on this. User should be able to close a device however they feel is most intuitive, and designers and engineers have to think around the natural human intuition.

It’s gonna break anyway bro, it’s the fact that requires loads of pressure to close. The Samsung z fold is much easier to close since the hinge doesn’t hold the different angles

people are claiming that they aren't closing it from the screen. they close it normally, then try to open it, but instead they meet resistance before they hear a pop and it breaks the hinge which shatters the screen

You also can’t do that with Samsung as much as they like to argue differently. When I looked into switching over to the Z flip seven last year, I watched multiple videos of them saying you have to close the phone carefully. You cannot push hard on that screen because it’s not a regular screen so it does not matter that the phone is Apple or Samsung or whatever the case is people are not utilizing the phone correctly simple as that people had Samsung fold and flips and we’re also getting the same issue why because user freaking errorThey

Teaching someone the right way to close a screen = a failure of design. This guy must be paid by apple.

I gotta disagree. Apple should’ve took into account that people would press the middle of screen near the hinge to fold the phone closed

Exactly, that and people WHIPPING it open one handed. Just open it like you would a book. With both hands. If you don’t have two hands available, put your drink down or just use the outer display until you can use both hands.

You should be able to slam it shut and it don’t crack. We don’t have to rationalize Apple’s oversights.
