@theasherhouse: Sometimes you meet a dog and your heart breaks immediately. Even knowing they’re safe now, you can’t help but wish you could go back and spare them everything they’ve been through. That’s how I feel about Hippo. He has significant neurological issues, struggles to walk, and often moves by army crawling on his elbows. It hurts to think about the years he spent in pain and discomfort without the love and medical care he deserved. Hippo’s story is a heartbreaking reminder of what happens when breeders see dogs as a way to make money and disregard their well-being. He deserved to be cared for, protected, and loved every day of his life. We can’t change his past, but now that he’s here at The Asher House Sanctuary, we can give him a different future. Hippo will be seeing a neurologist at a specialty care clinic, and we’ll do everything we can to help him feel comfortable, find joy, and have the best life possible. We don’t know yet what his recovery will look like, but we know he’ll have us beside him every step of the way.
