Honestly, I feel like sometimes it’s just like because no one talks to me or anything. I have to be the one who talks to them first all the time so it just feels like did they even care

We did candy grams and roses when I was in 10th grade. And I was the only person in my homeroom class who didn’t get one. I remember crying that day. 🥺

Unfortunately it’s the reality for many autistic people. Society seems to be less tolerant of autistic people because to the neurotypical’s eyes, they find us very annoying, childish, a bit of a know it all, an old soul and so on and so forth. No matter what we do, they find us hard to control and hard to influence as well.

yep. also when everyone got bfs and stuff i never had anyone like me and i was confused why. ppl would say i was ugly and annoying but whatever i have a partner now at least but making friends is hard still as an adult

word for word. same experience in school and I still feel like I'm no one's first choice. I stopped chasing it... I accepted that I'm most likely never going to be that person and that's okay. doesn't stop me from still sharing that love with my friends and making them my first choice so they won't feel the way I do

My elementary school had warm fuzzies. They were just little puff balls glued onto form hearts for feet with googly eyes. No one ever bought any for me. I would buy some for myself so I could try to participate and feel included

I had the same experience. I remember seventh grade there was someone that sent me a carnation and claimed to be a secret admire in later I figured out that they were just joking and trying to trick me.

TBH, I was an asshole as a kid because I tattled, had a temper, didn’t understand jokes and took things too literally which is why I don’t deserve to make friends 😔 I feel for your pain 😢
