@soocanadian: U.S. President Donald Trump has drawn attention to the B.C. Conservatives’ election victory, posting on Truth Social that the party had won in the province for the first time in nearly 100 years. U.S. Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra also shared Trump’s post on X. The B.C. Conservatives, led by Lorne Doerkson, won a majority government in Saturday’s provincial election, taking 64 of the legislature’s 93 seats. The NDP won 27 seats, while the Greens won two. The victory ends nine years of NDP government in the province. David Eby conceded defeat and announced he would resign as NDP leader. The Conservatives have promised to expand natural gas production, cut red tape and introduce a $1,000 tax cut. Doerkson has also pledged to triple liquefied natural gas production by 2035.
