@mpzo5: Prince rarely gave producers permission to sample his music, but Tupac’s “Heartz of Men” got through. On All The Smoke, DJ Quik recalled sampling the reversed ending of “Darling Nikki” for Pac’s record: “I’m one of the only people that he cleared a sample for, because he never cleared a sample for nobody. He was mad at first”. Quik said Prince eventually came around after money started coming in. He also recalled Prince approving The Time’s “777-9311” sample on “What’z Ya Phone #”.
