I also loved how excited he was to get married and be married. He took the initiative to fix up the house, to care of the garden, to help her. The Wicker man loved her from first sight.

I thought the Taylor and the Taylor’s wife were interesting power dynamic because he used a nickname for her and she called him Taylor.

It’s funny because Dev Patel was supposed to play Wicker

This adds to the wedding scene when she declined to wear the ceremonial collar. Showing she wasn't her husband's property.

I love how just about everyone in the village was absolutely miserable and could have been near as happy as fisher woman and wicker man if they wouldn't have been so invested in how things were supposed to be.

Also I LOVE her having to learn to cherish him back and accept his compliments because she has never had that and her parents did but died too soon

Not sure if you’ve covered this yet, but I’m super intrigued by the connection between the fact that the wicker man takes on the more “feminine” role in the marriage, the conversation between the women in the village about death in childbirth, and the fact that the fisherwoman ended up being the one to light the wicker man on fire, which then resulted in them taking in the wicker baby

It’s this beautiful glimpse into what men could be outside patriarchy. Happily gardening and cleaning clothes. Enjoying life and his wife.

You know what I noticed about the wedding? Fisherwoman and Wickerman stood on the opposite sides of the other couples weddings. I loved this movie and I’m so amazed it was even made considering the crap that gets produced these days

Can we please talk about how the wound on the Tailor’s Wife’s face stays unhealed until she finally succeeds in hurting the Fisher Woman??

I think a big one not a lot of people are talking about is when the tailors wife went to help stitch that man’s foot to help her father bc her husband fainted from the blood, then when the stitches are done her husband gets back up and her father compliments him on the stitches and ignores that his daughter was the one to do it! That one hit deep.

Also like they left that girl go fend for herself when her parents died. Everyone turned a blind eye. They left her to take up the profession and be the only independently living woman simply so they wouldn’t have to deal with her.
