Intermediate FMLA so you can use it when you want and not all at once for the 12 weeks

Her mom says “she can’t do it” she can’t deal with my autistic little girl. One time she broke down and told her “I never wanted this I never wanted you” I said “you better NEVER talk to her like that again” I’ve never spoken to her like that…so I do it…I take care of her. Her mom works about 30 hours a week and I take care of my girl. I bathe her, I feed her I get her ready in the morning make her breakfast do her hair brush her teeth pack her lunch drop her off at school and head straight to work this shitty grocery stocking job. I leave work and go straight to pick her up from school. We go home I make her lunch because of her autism and food aversion she won’t always eat well at school. I make her mom and myself dinner clean up and give her a bath she usually playes her tablet while I do things around the apartment because I can’t afford anything better than that I’m only lucky I served in the military and I get a couple thousand each month from them for my injury. I guess life is like that sometimes… thanks for reading… sorry for over sharing friend

We just work fulltime. We hold boundaries with the school and demand an appropriate education because we aren't coming to pick him up unless he's sick. He also knows we aren't playing. His job is to go to school, work woth the teachers/staff- follow his IEP, period. As for appointments, we fit them in where we can. We have scaled back now that he's older.

Yes,i have intermittent FMLA through my job for my son who is level 2 ASD. This is my 3rd year getting it recertified. It covers his all of his appts and in the event he is having meltdowns that prevent me from getting to work on time. The developmental pediatrician is the one who fills out the forms for me.Luckily,i don’t ever have to use it because i have a job where I am able to flex my time, but I keep it active in the event an emergency happens.

You can apply for intermittent FMLA and it provides job protection the same way a continuous FMLA would. You would just need to report your absences or time out to your leave administrator for tracking purposes but the entitlement is usually still up to 12 weeks.

You can, but using it for days off school is not medial related.

Intermittent FMLA. It allows me to take time off for appts, therapies, sick time. I renew it every 6 months.

As long as you’ve worked there for a year and your job employs at least 50 people, they are required by law to allow you to take FMLA to care for yourself or a family member. You would likely need an intermittent FMLA to fully accommodate your kiddo. Just let your child’s doctor know why you’re requesting FMLA and they will most likely know exactly how to fill out the papers with the proper wording to ensure you are approved. I am even allowed to call in and use FMLA if my son doesn’t sleep because sleep issues are part of his disorder.
