ATLANTA, GA — In a stunning departure from decades of company tradition, former egg and Chick-fil-A CEO Andrew T. Eggman has reportedly begun questioning whether the fast-food chain should remain closed on Sundays, a position insiders say has sent shockwaves through both the poultry and evangelical communities. “Times change,” said Eggman, who served as an egg for nearly 11 months before being promoted directly to chief executive officer in what industry analysts still describe as one of the fastest ascents from breakfast ingredient to corporate leadership in American history. Eggman said his experience inside the shell gave him a unique perspective on Chick-fil-A’s longstanding Sunday policy. “You spend enough time inside an egg and you start thinking about things,” he said. “Purpose. Mortality. Whether a chicken sandwich should be available after church.” The comments immediately sparked controversy. Chick-fil-A has famously remained closed on Sundays since its founding, allowing employees a guaranteed day for rest, worship, family and, until now, forcing millions of Americans to discover they want Chick-fil-A exclusively on the one day they cannot have it. Eggman believes that psychological phenomenon deserves further study. “Saturday? Nobody cares,” he said. “Monday through Friday, Chick-fil-A is simply a restaurant. But Sunday morning? Suddenly every American is driving toward a Chick-fil-A like they’ve been wandering the desert for 40 years, only to find the parking lot empty.” Eggman proposed a potential compromise in which restaurants would open for approximately seven minutes every Sunday afternoon. “No announcement,” he clarified. “You’d just have to feel it.” The proposal has already drawn criticism from longtime customers, religious leaders and several chickens who reportedly view Sunday as the only day of the week they can “fully unclench.” One chicken, speaking on condition of anonymity from behind a dumpster near an Atlanta-area location, called the proposal “deeply concerning.” “We had a deal,” the chicken said. Eggman’s relationship with the chicken community has remained complicated since his highly publicized transition from egg to executive. Critics have repeatedly questioned whether an egg can ethically oversee a restaurant primarily engaged in the sale of chicken. Eggman rejects the criticism. “People assume every egg grows up to be a chicken,” he said. “Some of us go into business.” According to sources familiar with his career, Eggman first joined Chick-fil-A after being discovered sitting quietly in a carton during a leadership retreat. Executives were reportedly impressed by his composure under pressure, ability to remain calm during meetings and willingness to take accountability despite having no arms. Within six weeks, he was overseeing regional operations. Three months later, he became CEO. “He just had executive presence,” recalled one former colleague. “Very smooth. Polished. Difficult to read.” Eggman eventually left the company to pursue consulting, motivational speaking and what his LinkedIn profile describes only as “incubation.” Despite the controversy surrounding his Sunday comments, Eggman says he remains proud of his tenure. “I came into this world with nothing but a shell and a dream,” he said. “If my story teaches people anything, I hope it’s that you should never allow your current form to determine your future.” At press time, Chick-fil-A had not announced any plans to begin opening Sundays. Eggman, meanwhile, was reportedly seen leaving the interview in a black SUV after declining to answer repeated questions about whether he is hard-boiled.**
