I think you’re half right. Yes, Fielder played rope-a-dope to start. But I also think he was at least somewhat taken by Holmes and probably got too close. And Seyfried saw that too. He has absolutely gotten too close to his subjects in his past series, as well.

I agree with you and it is suuuuch a frustrating take. Amanda asked that question and we as the audience truly hadn't seen any evidence towards that at all. To me it had the same effect as if you asked Nathan if he was a giant purple dinosaur. Like, no, of course not. Also the swimming felt ridiculous and comedic knowing him, not romantic.
