So, “Dad”, who is unreliable, incapable of consistently being a support for his offspring (as described by you), is “easier” so the troubled child gravitates to him. And the mother who was always there, always rescuing, is the bad guy? Of course the troubled child gravitates toward easier! Just like the Dad who couldn’t be bothered with being there during the hard times, or even meeting his basic responsibilities to his offspring. Yeah, Mom is who she is because she is always on point trying to prevent and extinguish fires created by the people she loved and fought to protect all of the child’s life. She never had a chance to step down and back. Never allowed to simply be Mom. Instead, she had to take on both roles and fought hard to protect & nurture, guide, educate, shelter, discipline, etc. despite having half the resources (physical, financial, spiritual, time, emotion, EVERYTHING), and now…. In a society that caused this environment… the “barely adult aged” off spring climb onto their soapbox and condemn the one person who gave all for them. The ONE thing you latched onto so hard - borrowing & returning $200 for a two week span - is absolutely asinine. If Mom had access to do so, she was the person responsible for holding & building that money for a minor child. The fact that she fully returned the money in so short a time proves she had no intent to harm and did not fail to protect the funds she held and controlled for her minor child. Your assumption of broken trust due to the action being “nonconsensual” in retrospect… is beyond ignorant. For all you know, the money was borrowed for a valid reason to cover a temporary inability to meet a need of the child, ie rent, utilities, school activities or needs, transportation, and so on. ASK more questions and look at the entire situation. Instead of condemning the one person who did all in their perception of the child’s best interest, consider where that child, now a judgmental adult, would be today without Mom making it so safe for them by rescuing them from their own bad decisions all those years. Your answer feels bad because it is wrong.
