I forgot how much I dreaded the sound of the garage door opening. I would clean, ready meals, and never be caught sitting on the couch when he got home. I didn’t recognize this as fear motivated until years later.

he got ao mad bc the smoke detector battery started beeping at 3 am. it scared my dogs and I couldn't sleep bc they were so upset. he had a meltdown bc we woke him. I climbed on a ladder and changed the battery so everyone could go back to sleep. he NEVER once offered to help. the next day I told him it was time to leave. if you cant help with a small inconvenience and get so triggered, then GO. I dont need you.

I couldn’t even do things around the house like dishes or laundry if he called me. Even if I was in the middle of doing it and he called me. He would be so mad I was making noise

OMG same! I was so unhappy but cannot justify a divorce on being unhappy. I mean, after all, he never hit me. And sometimes my brain would just scream out “please hit me, just once, hit me. Give me a reason to leave.” This was before before I knew about emotional, psychological and mental abuse. Once I realized that, I worked hard on my escape plan.

Wow, felt every second of this! One time my daughter & grandson came over while he was in bed (he went to bed early because of his work) & he came out of the bedroom screaming at me asking why I didnt stop the stomping & loud talking...because I didn't hear any of it.....that's why. You didnt dare say that tho.....
