Soon as u walked in there the smell of sugar, seriois as a kid it was like walking into Charlie and the Chocolate factory, they had every sweet known to man Same as Wallies, another legendary spot. Again every sweet known to man, a little oven on the counter selling hot Clarks Pies, and warm corned beef pasties! Also 1 of the only shops to sell pink Echo’s a paper that was sold on a Saturday 1 hour after the football results, who remembers the pink Echo? They had a Chinese next to Mostyns, charity shops, JJ Spencers, Lambro’s across the road another shop that some everything u needed, a post office, all gone Who remembers the bookies? William Hill there? We’d be outside there in the summer night and day smashing footballs against the shutters 😂 Cooler (Remember that) Fa singles, Fa doubles, there would be tons of kids, adults getting involved, great times Penny for a guying out there, when someone walked into the bookies we’d say “Penny for a guy” they’d say “if i get a win i’ll chuck you some!” We’d all be in there cheering the cunts gee gee 🐎 on 😂 Ely heritage Wilson Road shops Mr Chips, 1 of the best Ely has ever produced, gangster, gone. Glendale the fruit and veg shop, gone. The butchers, gone, do we even have a butchers?
