People really take Billy face value but he’s more than just a rebel without a cause. He loves New York, and he loves the middle & lower class. A lot of his caring personality is guarded by these high walls he has. Someone else did a character study on him but the perfect interaction that sums Billy up is with Drifter. One of his lines is asking if Drifter needs help to a shelter, very sincere. Drifter says “No I’m the drifter, baby!” And Billy says “okay, fuck you”. Billy is caring but for whatever reason he has these walls to protect himself from getting hurt. he often shuts people down before they can shut him down. I can’t remember where I heard or read his character analysis but I really suggest looking for it if you are interested. He really is more than a one note character, just hard to see behind the BS he puts up.
