@dondon20040: 8th Ave in NYC has a new name! Popped over to 8th Avenue in Brooklyn today and witnessed such a meaningful moment! Brooklyn Chinatown officially welcomes a new name! There was a street naming ceremony held on-site, with officials, community reps, and local shop owners all joining in. New York City Council Members Susan Zhuang and Tony Ko were there too, witnessing this special occasion together. Giving a street a new name isn't just about changing a place on the map. Think about it-so many Chinese folks came to NYC, starting from trying hard to adapt, to working, opening shops, raising families... slowly turning a strange place into home. 8th Avenue holds the life memories of generation after generation. Behind this event, there's a lot of community power driving it forward. NYSFAO teamed up with over 50 local merchants to contribute to the unity and development of our Chinese community. Neighborhood growth is never just one person's job; it's the result of everyone-residents, businesses, and members-working together. A new name for a street, shared memories for generations of Chinese For those of us living in NYC, this isn't just a new name; it's a sense of identity that belongs to our community. #BrooklynChinatown #brooklynschinatown #brooklyns8thavenue #nycchinese #newyorklife
