Honestly this does way more than service the airport, many people from the surrounding mascoutah area can commute to work for extremely cheap via metro link to access so many job opportunities in the StL/Metro East area.. I don’t like our governor but this was an excellent amenity and use of transportation grants

Why does St. Louis need two airports? The Pittsburgh metro is about the same size and just downsized its 1990s-era airport that was built as a US Air hub.

metro link didn't pay for it. it was funded and built by St Clair County, Illinois. St. Louis wasn't involved.

oh so that's why they built the metro bridge over the road into base 😂 I'm enlisted on base, I watched them build it whenever I went into work lol I wasnt sure if it was going to something specific or not

Lambert used to be a much busier airport before TWA folded and American closed their hub. I’m assuming that’s why MidAmeirican was built. (Lambert also famously eminent-domained a whole small suburb to build a new runway for TWA that didn’t get finished until after TWA folded.)
