@woolseymammoth0: Bodie, California holds a Guinness World Records title for the largest abandoned gold-mining town in the entire world. It boomed during a gold rush in 1879–1881, with people still living there into the 1940s. In its heyday, there were ~10,000 residents and ~2,000 structures but only ~100 still stand today after fires destroyed most of the town. Now it sits mostly untouched, slowly weathering away with pieces of everyday life still sitting inside. Like stepping straight into another century.
