@mikefrommodernbuilds: I made an #octagon shaped #terrazzo planter!! This was surprisingly simple and FUN!!! Drainage hole in the bottoms recommended. #planter #concrete #diyproject

i love concrete and this tickles my nostalgia but it's cause it reminds of an interstate rest stop trashcan on road trips as a kid

Why didn’t you use a sander to vibrate the concrete down so it packs without bubbles in the concrete and it will look 10 times better

Use a massage gun to compact the concrete the vibration helps get the air pockets out

Without a drainage hole the plant will get root rot and not survive. Maybe transfer it to a planter pot and use the concrete as a decor plant holder

It’s really rude to make me, a person with zero skill or green thumb, think I can birth a terrazzo planter and keep whatever I chuck in it alive. How dare you, Mike.

It looks cool but next time either drill a drain hole or place a small piece of pipe or something to form the hole before pouring the concrete

This is seriously impressive. You nailed the form. If it were mine, I’d add a little drainage and lift it on legs so the planter can “breathe” a bit more. Since it looks pretty substantial, you might also experiment with GFRC or another lighter concrete mix to keep the same look without all the weight. Great work. Can’t wait to see what you build next.
