Falls are the number one danger for older adults living alone, and a minor stumble can become serious when there is no one there to help. Clear the paths and add grab bars and brighter bulbs. Second, avoid locking yourself into total isolation. Going days without real contact is not just lonely, it is genuinely bad for your health, linked to faster cognitive decline, and it means no one notices if something is wrong. Build in regular check-ins, a daily call, a neighbor who knows your routine. Third, avoid having no backup plan for an emergency.
