@fabulyss97: Two years ago our family fell to the pits of hell. Life as we knew it had changed, forever. As life continued on, ours stopped. The days and nights were long and heart wrenching. Day after day the doctors prepared us for the worst and gave zero hope of recovery. For three long agonizing months, we watched Christy fight her way out of a coma. That was something nothing could have prepared us for. The last two years have been filled with heartache, fear, uncertainty, and triumphs. Two years later we are still navigating this tragedy while grieving the life we once knew. Through it all, Christy has fought endless battles, battles that no one should ever have to fight. Every single milestone, no matter the size, is a reminder of how far she has come. The things we once took for granted (ie feeding yourself, brushing your teeth, talking, making a cup of coffee, going to work, holding Grayson, walking, etc.) are now celebrated. While we would give anything to go back to the life we once knew, we will never stop hoping, fighting, and believing in what is still possible. I don’t know why I feel so compelled to share this, but I do. Maybe it’s because I’m in awe of Christy’s strength and resilience while also in disbelief that this happened in the first place. #tbisurvivor #tbiawareness #tbi #iwillrecover

ICU RN here. This is what Full Code looks like. That means we will do anything we can to keep you alive in any capacity. And let me tell you, most of us struggle with a lot of those decisions because of the heartbreak. But this is the reality. So I urge everyone to have this very difficult conversation with your POA. Because I know what almost every ICU RN would choose. Mercy.

For those that do not want to be full code and live like this, talk to your talk doctor about your options!

A couple of these comments are very ignorant. You do not know what her wishes were & the fact she gained back as much strength as she did shows god knew it wasn’t her time.

i know everyone is here discussing code status and i’d say i’ve seen a younger pt with a stroke in the hospital for nearly 4 months in the hospital (3 on my medsurg/tele unit) and wow, what a recover she made. went from laying mostly still, neglecting one side, eyes not opening. to saying a few words, moving both sides of her body (though one is weak) and tracking the nurses. it took her months to get there and a lot of set backs, especially heart, kidney, and nutrition wise. she ended up going to a rehab after lengthy insurance battles and it was good to see her move on. but, what happened to her could be very discouraging for other families to see, it took a lot of fighting, waiting, and advocating for her to get healthy enough to discharge out of the hospital enough for a rehab to accept her. all this to say, everyone’s journey is different along with everyone’s resources, health status, and willingness to fight. also to say both this patient and the one in the video appear to be younger, which is also a factor as well. think about your life, and think about whether you would want to fight to keep it, or fight for dignity and quality of life. any decision can be the right decision, respect your loved one’s wishes, and don’t be afraid to think about your future when it comes to your health. take the time to think about what YOU would want to happen to YOU if you were in this state. have the tough conversations with family and loved ones as well, it’s also hard for them🤷🏾♀️🙏🏾side note: if you do have no family or a living will/advanced directive, once doctors see your come back as slim to not happening (maybe around 30 days) a court order will most likely be made to make the tough decision for you🫤(do not recesitate) especially if you’re elderly.

Dear Jesus - one of Your lambs needs You. We collectively pray to You today to ask for another one of the miracles we read about only this time we need it for our friend Christy. Please accelerate her healing journey so that one day soon she can share and spread her miraculous story and be a beacon of light and hope for others. Please bestow to her blessings for her ever increasing strength and for the courageous willpower she needs. We just need the mere wave of Your hand over her lovely soul for all of this further fast healing. Thank you Jesus for Your work and for her lovingly family. Amen.

Thank you for sharing. My brother, now 67 suffered a TBI & partial paralysis when he was hit by a car at 8 years old. It hasn’t been an easy journey for numerous reasons but yet he’s the happiest person I know! His brain doesn’t have the ability to dwell on all he’s missed out on which is a blessing. The first year after his accident he was quite crippled but with physical therapy he improved where he didn’t need a wheelchair (unless for very long walks). TBI can vary greatly from person to person. I hope Christy continues to improve. She seems like she’s a fighter!! I speak on this as a sibling affected by it & can only imagine how heartbreaking it is for parents of children who suffer from TBI & all the challenges that comes with it. Sending you love ❤️
