See, I don’t know how I feel about that. I wouldn’t want to pay for a consultation and then have to pay for the actual service on top of that. It should be included in the price or deducted from the predicted total in some way. I feel like we don’t have enough context to the story to really understand why the salon practices this in this way

I required a $25 30 minute consultation before first service when I owned my grooming salon. It was essentially a face/feet/sani trim and test of the dogs temperment for tools. Never got push back one.

$25 is cheap. One local stylist in our area charges $40. You are paying for their time. You are paying for them to not fry your hair and make sure you get the absolute best service. Why do people gotta be so cheap.

lol no. stylist is the karen on the take of the paying. i’ve gone to countless consultations and gotten tests strands. ive never once paid lol

I do find that a bit wild. where i am, any compulsory consultations are free or included in the price, maybe like a deposit thats taken off the service. to charge for a required extra isnt something id personally be willing to do. to each their own!

I understand but the consultation is worth the time bc it may lead to a new client. I’d say if they schedule at the end of the, I’d take 25 off of appointment and if not, they just pay for the 25 bc they wasted my time

I can totally understand being charged for consult. somebody is taking the time, even though they're not technically doing anything to your hair, they are still taking the time to work.
