@limitedlovees: #groomingawareness so I would just like to say these messages are a couple of really old screenshots I found on my old phone when I had just entered the sixth grade. He was 23 years old. This video is NOT made to encourage this behavior. This is to spread awareness of what grooming can look like. KNOW THE SIGNS, BREAK THE SILENCE. Grooming is when someone builds trust, an emotional connection, or a sense of dependence with another person, often a child or teenager, to manipulate, exploit, or abuse them. It doesn’t always look scary at first. Sometimes, it looks like kindness, special attention, gifts, compliments, promises, or someone making you feel like you’re the only person who understands them. Grooming can look like: - Giving excessive gifts, money, or special treatment. - Making you feel special, mature, or different from everyone else. - Pushing boundaries little by little to see what you’ll tolerate. - Asking you to keep secrets from friends or family. - Trying to isolate you from people who care about you. - Using guilt, threats, manipulation, or emotional dependence to control you. - Making inappropriate conversations or requests seem normal. - Making you feel responsible for their actions or afraid to speak up. Please remember: Grooming is not always obvious, and it is not always committed by a stranger. It can come from someone you know, trust, or care about. You may not recognize what is happening until much later, and that does not make it your fault. 🫶 How can we spread awareness? Educate yourself and others about warning signs. Listen to survivors without blaming, questioning, or shaming them. Respect boundaries and teach others that consent, safety, and trust matter. Speak up when something feels wrong, and report concerning behavior to a trusted adult or appropriate authority. Share reliable resources so people know where to turn for help. If you think you are being groomed, or if it has happened to you: You deserve to be safe, believed, and supported. In the U.S., you can contact: 📞 Childhelp: Call or text 1-800-422-4453 for support involving child abuse. 📞 RAINN: Call 800-656-HOPE (4673) or visit rainn.org for sexual assault support. 🌐 CyberTipline: report suspected online child sexual exploitation at report.cybertip.org. If you are in immediate danger, contact emergency services. A person who genuinely cares about you will respect your boundaries, your right to say no, and your right to seek help. You are never to blame for someone choosing to manipulate or exploit you. Let’s stop normalizing harmful behavior, stop protecting abusers through silence, and start creating spaces where survivors feel safe enough to speak. You never know who needs to see this reminder. Share this. Save this. Start the conversation. Awareness can make a difference. #EndChildAbuse #ProtectChildren #OnlineSafety #thoughtoftheday
