Improvised Confessions | Self-Written Monologue Hello! My name is Brooklyn Simmons, and I’m an aspiring actress hoping to break into the acting industry! Acting is something I’m incredibly passionate about, and I really hope I can turn my dream into reality someday. I’ll be turning eighteen soon, so fingers crossed that some exciting opportunities come my way! Funny enough, a lot of these strange stories are actually things I genuinely believed as a kid, so I thought, why not turn them into another funny, self-written monologue? I also want to apologize if the captions are missing punctuation. For some reason, Instagram wouldn’t let me edit them, so I had to work with what I had! More acting content is coming soon, and I hope I can make this dream come true one day. Thank you so much for watching, and I hope you enjoy the video! ———————————— About the monologue: Who It’s Talking To: Primary: The live audience watching the show, and speaking directly to them. Secondary: The producers backstage who whisper “Improvise.” What It’s About: A performer shoved onstage with no warning who fills the panic by confessing crazy childhood beliefs until someone finally stops her. Where It’s Taking Place: A chaotic backstage theater during a live performance. So the show starts… and immediately someone backstage panics and goes, “I need you to replace me right now.” Me: “I… I what? Replace you? Where are you going?” They yell, “Fixing things!” and vanish. Curtains fly up. Spotlight hits me. I’m standing there like I’m lost. Me: “Uh… hi. I know I’m not the person you were expecting. Honestly, I’m not even the person I was expecting. So we’re all confused together, which is beautiful.” I turn to the producers, “What do I do?” They whisper, “Improvise.” Me: “Improvise. Amazing. Nothing gives me more confidence than being told to wing it in front of strangers who can legally judge me.” So I step back to the audience and go: Me: “Okay, so… did you know I once believed Ursula, yes, the sea witch from The Little Mermaid, was real? Not metaphorically. Not spiritually. I mean physically lurking in my basement waiting to murder me.” Every time I’m downstairs I’d I’m rn the lights off and sprint up the stairs like I was escaping a Disney villain. I fell so many times to the point I don’t know how I never broke a bone. And that’s not even the weirdest thing I believed. One time, I told everyone my cat lost his leg… and it grew back. Like a lizard. Like my cat was a actual lizard. Spoiler: his leg never fell off. I just… made that up. For no reason. My brain said ‘believe it’ and I ran with it. Oh! And shadows. I used to talk to shadows on the wall thinking they were my parents. Middle of the night, full conversations, deep emotional bonding… with a pile of laundry. I was basically trauma‑dumping on laundry. And then there was my dog. I told people she ate her own tail. She never had a tail. I just assumed she consumed it like a snack. I don’t know why. I don’t know how. I don’t know who raised me.” Suddenly the guy runs back in like, “I fixed it!” “Perfect timing. I was about to reveal more disturbing childhood lore and I don’t think the audience was ready for the season finale.” #comedy #actingjourney #actor #acting #monologue
