Actually as a person eith ADHD who always feels misunderstood I tend to default to the hyperspecific vocabulary as a defense mechanism to try to accurately convey the message im trying to deliver in order to avoid miscommunication. Though usually I just end up getting dirty looks.

this. People keep accusing me of trying to be smart while misspelling everything. NO! I just couldn't recollect the corresponding words to the phrases i intended. Im not showing off my brain is just cluttered and frantically trying to keep up with itself!

ok so mine versions slightly worse because I grew up and still am obsessed with the macabre and my vocabulary has unintentionally been adjusted to fit into that. so its me constantly trying to remember the normal version of a word bc I can only remember the macabre version, for example I love using the word volatile... I am not allowed to use this word when visiting my therapist bc it makes it sound 10 times worse than it actually is.😭
