Had a friend that was a performative gentleman. It was annoying and embarrassing. I’m also a person that’s private and doesn’t like to draw attention to myself. He’d stand up when I went to the restroom and when I came back. It got to the point, I wouldn’t go to the restroom if we went out. He also insisted on dropping me off at the front of the restaurant and would get angry 😡 if I didn’t let him get out of the car and open my door. That’s not chivalry, it’s a performance. If someone tells you something makes them uncomfortable….STOP doing it. That is chivalry.
