hi, white person here, from what i’ve gathered it’s because many white people find it easier to not acknowledge their biases and will instead opt to say things like “i’d save the dog” to make themselves feel like a good person. sure saving an animal is a good thing to do but saying you’d do that before saving another person is where i dont think they realize doesn’t make them look like a good person, it just makes them look like they don’t value human life. it’s easy for white people to think this way because if it’s never challenged (by themselves or others) it will likely not ever change. White people are a lot more likely to think this way also, because we’ve never had our humanity or worth questioned. 👍I hope that all made sense, i can get rambly sometimes
