@aweil.news.agency: Abiem Community Chairman calls for calm, appeals to Kiir over release of Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel Amb. Garang Deng Aguer, Chairman of the Aweil East Community in Juba, has called on youth to remain calm and exercise restraint following controversial remarks attributed to the chairman of Awan Pajok Community. In an official statement released on Sunday, the Abiem Community expressed concern over what it described as threats to the safety and well-being of Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, who is reportedly under house arrest. The statement also raised concerns over the alleged reported arrest of Chan Malong, an aide assigned to Dr. Bol Mel. According to the community Chairman, the alleged arrest has raised further concerns about Dr. Bol Mel’s welfare, including reports that he has declined food provided by security personnel deployed at his residence. The Abiem Community called on the relevant authorities to hold accountable individuals or groups found responsible for threatening others and to ensure the safety and security of all citizens without discrimination. Amb. Garang urged young people to remain peaceful as community elders work to address the concerns through dialogue and respectful engagement. He concluded by appealing to President Salva Kiir Mayardit to facilitate the release of Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, Eng. Deng Lual Wol, and other detainees whom the community believes are being held without lawful justification.
